ON A SCALE OF 1 TO 10, HOW WILLING ARE YOU TO TRULY CHANG? 🚦
I'm going to try to answer that question.
But first, let me ask you a question:
How much do you want to change?🤷♂️
.
On a scale of 1 to 10, how willing are you to truly change?
It's a hard question, isn't it?🤳
.
I mean, if I were to ask you what your favorite food was,
or what kind of music you like,
or what color is your favorite,
those are easy questions that don't require much thought.
.
But when I ask how much do you want to change?
That's when the real work begins!🚴♀️
.
One of the most important things I've learned in my 15 years of studying resilience is that we need to focus on the #process + the #people.
.
It means that the people need to know that things are happening *WITH* them instead of *TO* them, for the change to actually become reality.
.
The same goes for business settings -- most #Change_Management_Programs focus on changing EXTRINSIC behavior.
.
That's a big no no. 🌡
.
Why?
.
Well, because we need to take into account human nature.
We need to shift our focus from changing EXTRINSIC BEHAVIOR (which is what most people think about when they think about change) towards INTRINSIC MOTIVATION.
.
People don't change because someone tells them to. 🚩
People change because they want to make positive changes in their lives and work environment. 🎡
.
They will also only change if they believe that it will lead them toward their goals and aspirations. 🪂
.
The key to effective change management is in making INTRINSIC changes to the system through a process called "Designing for Change".🎨🎨🎨
.
If you want people to adopt new behaviors and patterns of thinking, then you have to find ways to help them achieve their goals while also helping them succeed at their jobs.💪
.
If you don't do this, then you're going after extrinsic behaviors and you'll never get them — because they will be temporary at best!
