One of the main topics that came up yesterday at the managers’ forum, during the personal branding workshop I gave, was:
HOW TO BUILD THE STATUS OF A PROFESSIONAL EXPERT, ESPECIALLY IN SITUATIONS WHERE ALL THE OTHER PARTNERS (THE BOSS, COLLEAGUES AND TEAM MEMBERS) REFER THEMSELVES AS THE PROFESSIONAL EXPERTS (RATHER THAN YOU).
I.E. HOW TO BUILD PROFESSIONAL STATUS IN SITUATIONS OF MULTIPLE EXPERTS?
My answer is that the creation of personal branding starts primarily in YOUR INNER FEELING.
If you don’t feel that you are the expert, it doesn’t matter what you say, it won’t sound honest. And that leads to an undesired status, and negative branding.
YET, HOW CAN YOU SOLVE THIS?
Here’s a great tip:
Think about the main subject or field you’re 100% sure of as being your area of expertise.
The one specific part you can put the finger on and say “that’s me, I’m the expert here”.
This is what you present first.
The outcomes:
People will appreciate your professional ability and you’ll build TRUST.
From that stage and forward, you’ll be the expert to this topic and will be able to expand your personal and professional influence.
